Join glass artist Irene Vangsness of Midsummer Glassworks (@midsummerglassworks) to learn the basics of fused glass art and create a candle cup/draped style or candle screen with attached votive holder. If you've been interested in fused glass but intimidated by the techniques involved, let Irene introduce you to this stunning craft.
In this workshop, students will learn:
How to handle glass safely
Glass cutting techniques
Project planning, layout, and construction
The various forms of glass, color/opacity/frits
Principals of glass fusing, time/temperature/what happens in the kiln/what is COE (coefficient of expansion).
All tools and materials will be provided. Irene will fire the candle holders in her studio kiln, and completed projects will be available for pickup 5 to 7 days later at Locally Crafted or Locally Crafted Workshop.
Irene is a glass artist with 15 years of experience. She exhibits and sells in local art fairs, and sells her pieces in four handcraft shops. See her work on Instagram at @midsummerglassworks.
